Overview

Your About Page is the first thing potential members see when they visit your community. It acts as a landing page where you can communicate your community’s purpose, share details about what’s included, and provide options to purchase your community as free or paid.

Customizing this page helps align your community’s visual identity with your brand and makes it easier for visitors to join.

How to Access and Edit the About Page

  1. Log in as an Admin or Owner.

  2. On the left-hand menu, select About Page.

  3. Click on the edit icon at the top to make changes.

This page shows whether your community is public or private, the number of members, and allows you to set the community as paid or free.

When paid is selected, it will use the default payment option that you’ve set on your Pricing Page in the Settings area.

Customization Options

1. Add Text Content

  • Add a Title that captures attention.

  • Update the Description to explain your community’s focus, benefits, and what members can expect.

  • You can include formatted text, bullet points, or emojis for visual appeal.

2. Set Up Membership or Pricing Options

  • Choose whether the About Page allows users to join for free or pay a fee to access the community.

  • Ensure your pricing setup is configured correctly under Settings > Pricing Page.

3. Add External Links or Resources

  • Include links to your website, terms of service, or help resources to give potential members more context.

Invite and Access Options

From the same screen, you can copy the About Page link and share it manually with potential members.

Tip: The About Page serves as your main promotional and onboarding link — perfect for newsletters, social media, or direct invitations.

Best Practices

  • Keep your message clear and inviting.

  • Use authentic visuals and consistent branding.

  • Add testimonials or short community highlights if available.

Troubleshooting & FAQs

Changes to my About Page aren’t saving

  • Refresh your browser and confirm you’re logged in as an Admin or Owner.

  • If edits still don’t save, try clearing your browser cache or using an incognito window.

  • Make sure you have a stable internet connection before saving updates.

My community still shows as Free even after setting it to Paid

  • Check your Pricing Page under Settings to ensure a payment option is configured.

  • If no payment plan exists, MemberUp will default to Free mode.

  • Once pricing is set, return to the About Page, select Paid, and click Save.

The About Page link doesn’t open for visitors

  • First, verify that the issue isn’t limited to a single member. If you can access it without problems, the issue is likely on the member’s side. In that case, we recommend asking the member to clear their cookies and cache or try a different browser

  • Copy the link directly from the About Page menu again to ensure your members are accessing the correct link.

Formatting or images aren’t displaying correctly

  • Ensure your uploaded images are in supported formats (PNG) and under 5MB.

  • Reapply formatting using the built-in editor tools instead of pasting from Word or Google Docs.

  • If issues persist, refresh the page or re-upload your content.

Can I customize the About Page for each community?

Yes. Each community in your MemberUp account has its own About Page, allowing unique branding, text, and links.

Can I preview my About Page before publishing?

No. You will need to view your About Page in the same area to see exactly as your visitors will see it before saving.

What happens if I switch my community from Free to Paid?

By default, logged-in members will not be able to view your pricing information, but they will still be able to access the contents of your about page.
