Connecting an Existing Stripe Account

🚨Important: Stripe only allows one platform connection per business. When connecting an existing Stripe account, MemberUp will create a new business under your existing Stripe login to maintain separate integration and analytics.

If you already have an account with Stripe for any other purposes that you would like to connect for payments, Stripe requires you to create a new business under your existing account.

Under new Stripe regulations as of July 2021, Stripe’s requirement to only allow connecting one platform per business ensures that each platform’s activity and integration are kept separate.

As a result, during the Stripe onboarding in MemberUp, we'll create a new business for you in your Stripe account regardless of which business you select from your existing account at the beginning.

The benefit of creating a new business under your existing Stripe account is you'll have one Stripe login and can easily switch back and forth between your different businesses without having to log in and out. This also allows for more accurate payment analytics.

  1. Email

    • Enter the email associated with your existing Stripe account during the connection process.

  2. Log in to Your Account

    • Stripe will recognize your email and prompt you to log in using two-step verification.

  3. Use Saved Information or Create New
After logging in, choose one of the following options:

    • Existing Business: Stripe will use saved information (personal, professional, bank, and public details) to create the new business.

    • Create a New Business: You’ll be prompted to provide all details as described in the new account setup section.

  4. Review Details

    • Review your information and make changes if needed by clicking the ✏️ icon.

    • Click Agree & Submit to finalize the process.

    • You can now begin setting up payment options in your MemberUp community.

Pro Tips

  • Use a verified business email for a smoother setup and Stripe communication.

  • Double-check your bank details before submitting to avoid payout delays.

  • Keep your community’s pricing and payment settings updated in Settings → Pricing in MemberUp.

Troubleshooting & FAQs:

Stripe is not validating my URL. What should I do?

If your community is private, use a public URL such as your website or social media profile instead. Stripe does not validate private links.

My payouts are delayed. How can I fix this?

Verify that your bank account information is accurate and that your Stripe account is fully verified with all required documentation

Can I use one Stripe account for multiple MemberUp communities?

Yes, but each community will be set up as a new business under your existing Stripe account. This ensures compliance with Stripe’s integration policy.
