How to Use the Inbox for 1:1 Messages

Learn how to send private 1:1 messages in MemberUp using the chat bubble. Start a new chat, find a member, and send messages (with emojis) to provide support and stay connected with your community.

Overview

The Inbox lets you privately message members for coaching, support, and direct conversations. Messages are visible only to the sender and recipient.


Step-by-step Instructions

  1. Open the Inbox
    Click the chat bubble icon in the top-right of your MemberUp screen.

  2. Start a New Chat
    Click the plus (+) icon.

  3. Find the Member
    Use the search field to look up the member you want to message.

  4. Start Chat
    On the right side, click Start Chat.

  5. Compose and Send
    In the Write a text message… box, write your message, optionally add an emoji, then press Enter or click the Send button to send the message.


Pro Tips

  • Keep ongoing conversations in the same thread for clarity.

  • Encourage members to enable notifications so they don’t miss your replies.

  • Use direct messages for personal support; use posts for announcements.

I am not getting email notifications for my messages

Currently, email notifications for direct or group messages are not available. The only way to check for new messages is through in-app notifications, which appear in your community within the chat bubble icon on top.
