Overview

Community privacy settings determine who can view your members, posts, and content.

You can choose to make your community Public or Private, depending on whether you want your content to be discoverable and viewable outside your member base.

Only Admins and Owners can update privacy settings.

Step-by-step Instructions

  1. Open Community Settings
Go to your community’s main page and click Settings in the right.

  2. Go to General Settings
Select General from the menu options on the left.

  3. Choose a Privacy Level
On the right side, select one of the following:
    Public

    • Anyone can view members and posts

    • Content is discoverable on search engines

    • Ideal for open-access communities and marketing visibility

  4. Private

    • Only approved members can view posts and member lists

    • Content is hidden from search engines

    • Best for paid or invitation-only spaces

  5. Save Your Changes
Click Save to update your community settings.

Pro Tips

  • Use Private mode if you offer paid memberships or confidential support spaces.

  • Public communities can drive awareness and allow potential members to explore content before joining.

  • Review privacy settings before launching your community or changing pricing models.
