Overview

Default pricing in MemberUp defines how new members join your community — either for free or through a paid plan.

Setting up default pricing ensures your community’s membership flow aligns with your intended model, whether it’s free access, a one-time payment, or a subscription.

This pricing also connects directly to your About Page, Membership Questions, and other community entry points, determining whether members see a Join Community (For free) or Join for a specific fee based on your setup, example: Join $999/year.

Step-by-step Instructions

  1. Access Community Settings
From your MemberUp homepage, Navigate to Settings → Pricing.

  2. In the Pricing section, click (...) next to the pricing you need to set as a default and select Make default

    1. Click on Confirm when it asks for "Are you sure you want to set this price as default?"

    2. Once it's set you will receive a confirmation on the bottom right that says "Stripe price set as default successfully"

  3. This will be the price that will be shown in your about page as the default price your members need to pay to get access.

  4. Depending on how you set your default pricing, your free or paid community will look as follows.

    Free Community:

    Paid Community:

Pro Tips

  • Review your pricing setup regularly, especially after adding new plans.

  • Test the member onboarding flow after updates to confirm the correct pricing appears.

Troubleshooting & FAQs

I can’t find the Pricing option in my Settings.

Only Admins and Owners have access to community pricing. Ensure you’re logged in with the correct role.

Why is my Paid plan not showing under Default Pricing?

Check that you have created at least one pricing option under Settings → Pricing Plans. If no plans exist, create one first.

I set the pricing to Free, but members are still being asked to pay.

Ensure that the member is utilizing the appropriate checkout link and is not using a custom payment link for your community.

Can I change the default pricing later?

Yes. You can switch between Free and Paid anytime. However, existing members will not be automatically charged or refunded; the change only applies to new members.

How does default pricing affect the About Page?

Your About Page will display either a Join Community or Pay a specific fee button depending on your chosen default pricing option.
